Special Needs Children often have trouble getting quality, professional photographs. Their needs, personalities and temperment do not fit well into the 15 to 20 minute scheduled sittings and extensive posing that is the normal mode of most portrait photographers. Their individual needs, added to the photographer’s lack of understanding and inablity to take the time to overcome the obstacles, often cause heartache and failure of the photography sessions.
Photographing Special Needs Children is a pleasure and challenge to Artist
Allen. Although his fine art photography is sold all over the world, he finds
his greatest passion and joy in portrait photography. He approaches each photo
session wanting to capture the essence of the beauty of special people. He
will take the time to get to know them, and let them get to know him, to find
out their special abilities as well as needs and the desires of the parents.
He starts with a personal interview with the parents, and if possible, meeting
each Special Needs subject so when it is time for the photographic session,
we will not be strangers to each other.
In the photographic session he knows how to wait patiently to quickly capture
the moment which will record the beautiful expression and personality of the
subject. Artist Allen is skilled in catching the miracle moment for these
children.
Artist Allen has had years at Egleston Children’s Hospital working as
a Radiology Technologist with children having various special needs. He has
learned to see beyond the surface of these precious people as well as becoming
comfortable working with them.
Artist Allen is currently working on being certified as a Special Needs Children’s
Photographer. To get this certification, he is looking for several sessions
with Special Needs Children. If you have a Special Needs Child, and would
like to be a part of these sessions, please feel free to contact Artist Allen
at (404) 695-3165 or e-mail him at: Artistallen@gmail.com and discuss your
needs and the photographic packages he is offering for those who help him
with this certification.
