Suggestions for your Photography Session
ArtistAllen offers a photographic experience that is individualized, fun and enjoyable as well as producing photographs which will delighted you. We are not trying to be the biggest portrait photographer, just the one you will choose again and recommend to your friends. You will be able to deal with Allen personally from beginning to end. Be sure to contact him with any questions or concerns.

We can begin to photograph babies within the first few days of their lives! If your child is in a NICU or being kept in a hospital for medical reasons, as us about coming to the hospital to do the photography there.

Besides the "artistic eye" of the photographer, the result of your photography session will in a large part depend on the relationship between the photographer and the one being photographed. Allen strives to put you at ease so your expressions will be natural and relaxed.

We offer the following suggestions to facilitate the photographic process.

Location
I can come to your house and set up a portible studio with lights and backdrops or we can use the inside or outside of your home. What better way to show your personality than to use your own living area for a backgrund! You can also come to our stuido an be photographed there. Or we could select an outdoor location.

We try to schedule outdoor location sessions to take advantage of the best times of day (and year). Just after sunrise and just before sunset are considered the best light for portraits. If you are not a “morning person” you can schedule an evening session.

Clothing
You may wear whatever you would like in your photography session. Some guidelines to remember are:

Bright patterns or words on clothing tend to be distracting from the face in the portrait. Therefore we recommend simple white shirts or tops and khaki slacks or dresses. For black and white relationship portraits, we recommend black clothing.

For outdoor portraits, orange, teal, pink and greens (except deep, forest green) tend to clash with most locations – especially with green of trees and grass. We suggest mid-toned solids or darker colors like gray, blue, brown, red, purple, brown, black or yellow.

Lighter colors (like white or yellow) and horizontal lines tend to accent weight. Darker colors (especially black) and vertical lines tend to understate weight. The exception to this would be a “hi key” photograph with a white background and white or light pastel clothing.

If you are self-conscious about a certain part of your body, you can contact us for clothing suggestions on reducing the impact of that part.

Props
While ArtistAllen has some props, you are encouraged to include your own interests in your portraits. Musical instruments, sports equipment, work paraphernalia, pets or friends make the portrait more individual and personal.

Bring a CD of your favorite music. Bring your favorite hats!

Get Creative! And get ready to enjoy yourself!
